[edit] Speedy deletion contested
I contest the speedy deletion of this article because:
- The article is to be expanded (and already has been);
- The article covers a topic in line with standard Wikipedia naming requirements;
- The article will ensure that the topic it covers is better explained. --Lholden 21:35, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Removing West Coast Join
The Australian Railway Atlas No 1 Tasmania Quail Map Company 2004 ISBN 1 898319693 would be sufficient argument enough to not join west coast with the larger article.
- (1) Larger scope article is pathetically underworked in com'parison to the history it could carry - little effort to improve the article has occured
- (2) Most texts on the history of the railways 'separate the western railways from the others - few if any attempt to put all the lines together
- (3) MAP 8 of the quail atlas was to be the next reference to improve the western article
- (4) The information and format of the western tas railways was made specifically for the regional quirks - unless the same is done for all parts of the tasmanian lines
it is creating a bad impression of the lack of work on the mainline and east coast line work to date.
Solution, I would suggest reverting, and giving a reasonable time for improvement of the west coast article - and see if anyone even considers doing a seconds work on the main article - and I would not hold my breath if i were you :| SatuSuro 09:12, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- The mainline stuff is a bit tricky in a way as http://www.railtasmania.com/ exists. It covers Tasmania in pretty good detail already, so I feel this article would be more of a general overview / summary of the Tasmanian scene as a whole, and just a jumping off point to the hard core gunzel detail type stuff. I'm not one to tell people what to do, but I see little point in rewriting what they have already. Wongm (talk) 09:47, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

- Yeah well i stick with the west coast as a sep issue - and in time I'll get back to you about the rest - just because something is on a web page doesnt make it necesarily the most authoritative source - I havent had enought time to compare my quail with the web site but will check later - as for gunzel it is obviously a victorian problem - never heard it here or elsewhere till now :) SatuSuro 10:08, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

- Ok bits and pieces - http://www.railtasmania.com/lines/ - confirmation of the idea to keep the west separate in my perception of things SatuSuro 10:14, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
