From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

'Raiwind' is a place in the Lahore city in Pakistan, where in the month of November the annual gathering of Tablighi Jamaat is held. Muslims all over the world come to join it. Muslim scholars around the globe join this gathering to address the people. This gathering remains for 3 days and then groups of 3 to 15 people are made to go around the world to preach the message of Allah. It is notable that groups which travel around, do so at their own expense, and this travel time extends from 3 to 365 days. Muhammad Ilyas was the founder of this movement. He started this from a small village in India called Mewat. The movement is now more than 70 years old, and is working in every continent of the world.[citation needed]

Approximately 1.6 million people attended this religious gathering in 2006, which is increasing with each coming year.

The Markaz (Headquarters) of the Tablighi Jamaat in Pakistan is also situated in Raiwind.
