Lorraine "Rainie" Cross was a recurring character in the popular BBC soap opera EastEnders. She was portrayed by actress Tanya Franks.

Rainie is the sister of character Tanya Branning. She turned up at Tanya's house on 2 August 2007. She was due to testify in court against her drug dealer but did not go because he had threatened her. She arrived at Tanya's house looking for a place to stay, claiming that she was clean from drugs but Tanya caught her attempting to inject heroin in the kitchen. Tanya gave her a choice — to take £500 and never see Tanya or her children again, or to stay the night and get help with her problems first thing in the morning. When Tanya's husband Max got home, Rainie left with the money without Tanya noticing.

Ignoring Tanya's ultimatum, Rainie returned to Walford on 7 January 2008.[1] Tanya was in an emotional state, having recently split from her husband, Max, following his affair with his daughter-in-law, Stacey Branning. Repentant, Rainie told Tanya that she had stopped using drugs and kicked her habit; she pledged to stay in Walford to support her sister through her break-up, proving that she had changed. Tanya temporarily let Rainie stay, but the results of a drugs test came back positive for Marijuana. An argument in the hall ensued, resulting in Rainie storming out of the front door without saying goodbye. Tanya later told ex-husband Max that Rainie had gone for good, with no visits.
