Rainbowtron

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rainbowtron is a two-piece improvisational experimental music group in Hong Kong with a strong dadaist ethic. Their primary style is influenced by grindcore but often interjecting random pre-set tunes from a second-hand casio keyboard, disco beats and synth noise in between improvised 'songs'. They also perform songs mocking other music genres such as blues, indie and canto-pop. The issues they raise in 'songs' vary greatly from album to album but often educational in nature. Their debut album "Paint The Town Brown", released under Brown Note Records in 2006, is an educational album focusing on the beneficial effects of dietary consumption of fruits and vegetables. At the same time they try to raise awareness for issues such as racism, cruelty to animals and colonialism through their music. Their live performances are unpredictable. On stage, both members wear ninja masks, brown body suits with diapers and rainbow belts on top.
