[edit] Copyright violations

I removed the entire "The 'Welcome to Earth' Series" topic because it was composed of multiple copyright violations, taken in entirely from other sources. [1] and [2] eaolson 02:59, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

  • The list of exhibitions is not a copyright violation, as it is considered public knowledge. Same as knowing the names of streets, or building, or who was in a play. Wjhonson 16:48, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
    • I'm not suggesting the exhibitions was a copyright violation. The biography and descriptions, however, were. eaolson 17:08, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
OK. I sent him an email asking him if maybe he would want to license any part of his biography to wikipedia. We'll see if there's any response. Wjhonson 17:16, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] How to resolve Copyright violations

My name is Anthony Forcet-Howard. I've been trying to create the following page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rah_Crawford. I'm new to this so I'm not sure what to do. Content is getting removed because of copyright violation. The person I'm posting for is my best friend and partner. How fo I indicate that I have his permission to duplicate the content on the wikipedia page?

Any help will be greatly appreaciated.

I've never dealt with this exact issue, but according to Wikipedia:Copyright problems:

If you submitted work to Wikipedia which you had previously published (especially online), and your submission was marked as a potential infringement of copyright, stating that you are the copyright holder of the work on the article's talk page helps, but will not likely prevent deletion. It is sufficient to:

  • Make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL at the site of the original publication.
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions at wikimedia dot org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation.
Be aware that Wikipedia is licensed under the GFDL, and WP's contents may be used elsewhere as well.
Also, just as a warning, the article that you originally posted seemed to me to read a bit like advertising copy, and might not meet WP's Neutral Point of View policy. Once the copyright problems are worked out, it may be modified by other editors. But thanks for bringing it here, it will make for a good article. eaolson 02:38, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
