Lucy Coffin Ragsdale High School was built in 1959 due to the overcrowding of Jamestown Public School (which still stands as Jamestown's Public Library) and is one of the 26 high schools (including Middle College, Early College, and Performing Arts High Schools) in the Guilford County School system in North Carolina. The school was name after Lucy Coffin Ragsdale for her interest in improving public education in Jamestown. The areas of town that are zoned to Ragsdale's district include areas of northeastern High Point, southeast Jamestown, and the Adams Farm/Sedgefield area of Greensboro. The school population is approximately 1580 students as of 2007.

The school mascot is the flying tiger, school colors are royal blue, orange, and white, and the official logo is the letter "R" inside of a diamond. Local history attributes the mascot as honoring the American Volunteer Group (Flying Tigers) of WWII.

School sports teams include but not exclusive to lacrosse, basketball, cheerleading, tennis, golf, football, indoor and outdoor track, band,cross country, baseball, swimming, softball and soccer, with numerous state championships won in several of those sports. Individual state champions in wrestling under Coach Andy Chappell include, Jesse Creed, Kyle Kanaga, J.P. Polchinski, Alex Cooke, Mickey Humphrey, Patrick Graham, and Jacob Creed. The football program under coach Tommy Norwood has had much success and produced several players to continue on to college careers including Mark Dixon who played at University of Virginia and then as a professional with the Miami Dolphins. Another player of note is RB- Tony Baker who was heavily recruited by a number of top NCAA Division 1 programs and who now plays for the NC State Wolfpack.
