Raghavan N. Iyer

Raghavan Narasimhan Iyer was an Indian academic and philosopher. Born in Madras, India on March 10, 1930, Iyer was the son of Narasimhan Iyer and Lakshmi Iyer. He is remembered for his contributions to Theosophy and as the father of Pico Iyer.
In 1975 he taught a course called "Politics in Literature" to an audience of over 100 students at the University of California at Santa Barbara. Each lecture was followed by a standing ovation.
Huston Smith, world renowned teacher, scholar, and writer of many books on world religions (including "The Religions of Man," which was used as text for world religion classes in colleges in the United States) was a friend and student of Raghavan Iyer for many years.
Dr. Iyer was a spiritual teacher and adviser to other famous teachers, philosophers, and dignitaries.
