[edit] My concern about your username (Blackaceproduction)
Hello, Blackaceproduction, and thank you for contributing to Wikipedia!
I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?
Usernames that promote a company: Usernames of or closely resembling the names of companies and groups are discouraged and may be blocked as a violation of Wikipedia policy against spamming and advertisement.
I'd appreciate learning your own views, for instance your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.
You have several options freely available to you:
- If you can relieve my concern through discussing it here, I can stop worrying about it.
- If the two of us can't agree here, we can ask for help through Wikipedia's dispute resolution process, such as asking for a "third opinion", or requesting comments from other Wikipedians. Admins usually abide by agreements reached through this process.
- If you decide to just go ahead and change your username, it is possible for you to keep your present contributions history under the new username: simply request a new name here following the guidelines on that page, rather than creating a whole new account.
Let me reassure you that my writing here means I don't think your username is grossly, blatantly, or obviously inappropriate; such names get reported straight to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism (WP:AIV), or blocked on sight. This is more a case where opinions might differ, and it would be good to reach some consensus — either here or at WP:RFC/NAME. So I look forward to a friendly discussion, and to enjoying your continued participation on Wikipedia. Thank you again! CascadiaTALK|HISTORY 15:54, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] My concern about your username (Blackaceproduction)
It is my website name and nothing more. Please check out my website at http://blackaceproduction.com
I make films and music as a hobby, it is not a company and I make no money, all my work is available for free download from the site. If you want me to change it please tell me how. I had no idea this might be a problem as a new user I am still getting used to the site.
- The concern is that it easily gives the appearance that you may be marketing your site. Although you may make no money off of the site, a site owner does not have to be a retail outlet to desire increased traffic. The reason I have that concern is how it may effect your ability to edit articles, as some editors may simply revert your edits assuming they contain spam links (whether they actually do or not). I'm not trying to lower the boom and say "do this now", but simply giving you the heads up that it may cause problems, and it might be a good idea to limit conflict (trust me, there are some people that seem to look for conflict).
- If you have a username you would be willing to use that strays as far from WP:U as possible, you can request that change WP:CHU.
- Thanks for your understanding, again, I'm not trying to be the "Name Ghestapo"... just trying to make life easier for a fellow editor. If I can be of any assistance, simply click the "Talk" link of my signature... to see what I do, feel free to browse my "History". I welcome any and all questions, and are available to assist at any time (reply may be a bit slow... I do still enjoy life!).00:09, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

No Problem, I hadn't thought of that, the last thing I want is more traffic to the site, my bandwidth gets hammered anyway by my mates, any more and it will crash.
I will get it changed as soon as the football is finished.
- Cool. Oh, and a hint... you can sign your comments with ~~~~'s. If you don't mind me asking, whose your host and how much bandwidth do you get? CascadiaTALK|HISTORY 13:43, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
My host is an old friend in the USA who resells accounts. Very cheap at $10 a year. He gives me up to 100Gb per month bandwidth if I request it. Name change has been requested to RAF Blackace.
