Professor Rafia Obaid Ghubash is President of the Gulf University in Bahrain. She is also President of the Arab Network for Women in Science and Technology and takes a strong interest in the education of Arab women receiving an award for “Middle East Women's Educational Achievement” in 2002.

In 2006 Rafia Ghubash was nominated for councillor at the World Future Council.
