Rafi Manoukian

Rafi Manoukian is a former member of the city council in Glendale, California. He served as the city's Mayor from 2002-2003. Although Glendale's City Council is non-partisan, Rafi is a member of the Democratic Party. Rafi sits on the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Commission.

Manoukian joined the U.S. Air Force in 1978 and served until 1982. He received the Air Force Commendation Medal for his service. After leaving the military, Manoukian went to Miami-Date Community College, were he received his Associate of Arts degree. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from California State University, Northridge, in 1984. Later Manoukian received his CPA License. He began practicing accounting in the city of Glendale in 1993. Manoukian and his wife, Zovig, have three children.

He was recently notified that he has been selected by the Board of Directors and the Selection Committee of the National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations (NECO) as a recipient of the 2006 Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
