Rafael Ortiz Huertas

Raphel "Mime" Ortiz is a Puerto Rican professional soccer player. He is currently playing with the Puerto Rico Islanders of the United Soccer Leagues First Division On several occasions he has been selected as First Team USL Team of the Week. He also plays for the Puerto Rican national team


One of the most experience players on the Puerto Rico Islanders squad. He began his career with Academia Quintana winning various championships in local football. He has been part of the Puerto Rico national football team in soccer and futsal. During the qualifiers for the 2000 FIFUSA/AMF Futsal World Cup he scored a goal against the Mexican national football team. He also tried his luck at professional football in Brasil during the decade of the 90's. In 2004, he joined the Puerto Rico Islanders where he excelled as right fullback. His last match with the Puerto Rico national football team was during the 2005 CONCACAF Gold Cup qualifiers in Trinidad & Tobago, he scored the tying goal versus Surinam. In 2005 he played 21 games for the Islanders, being named player of the week in week 7 of the USL. In 2006 he played in only 9 games. He returns in 2007 for his fourth season with the Islanders.
