RAF Gailes

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

RAF Gailes was a radar station. It was later taken over by civil staff from the Air Traffic Control at Prestwick Airport. It is not to be confused with RAF Fullarton, however both stations occupied the same area of land, but at different times. RAF Fullarton closed before Gailes opened.

Gailes was finally closed in the 1970's and the buildings demolished when the Radar station staff moved to Atlantic House in Prestwick.
