What exactly is meant by "inconsient"? Do you mean "inconscient", i.e. the Arabic listener who does not know that this is a US-funded station? Is that an objective statement, or does it imply that those Arabs who know that it is US-funded, would not listen to it?

I have a major problem with the wording here: 'an independent agency of the U.S. government, such that staff are not civil servants under direct government control.' I strongly disagree with using the word 'independent' to describe an agency in a country currently occupied by [mostly] American soldiers. Unless someone voices some strong criticism to by stance, I will edit it within the next few days Paskari 22:23, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

With respect, I do not understand. The quotation is using "independent" as a description of Sawa's status WITHIN the bureaucratic structure of the US government. Certainly it's not trying to suggest that it's independent OF the US government, an independent radio station, when what it says is exactly that it is an agency of the US government. So I don't really understand the relevance of the American soldiers in Iraq.
