Radu Ştefan Mazăre (born July 5, 1968) is a Romanian politician. He has already served one full term in office as Mayor of Constanţa, starting as an independent, but eventually becoming a Social Democratic Party (PSD) member. He was reelected in June 2004 and June 2008.
[edit] Career
An ex-journalist, he was involved in a famous incident where former President of Romania Ion Iliescu called a colleague of his "You, animal!".
Mazăre founded the Telegraf newspaper, the local Neptun TV channel and entered business as a shareholder of the Conpress Holding. He joined the Democratic Party (PD) and was elected in the Romanian Chamber of Deputies in 1996. He later resigned due to "differences between electoral promises and realities of government".
