[edit] Gameplay
Rad Mobile took place in a first person perspective and engage into a non-stop road race across the USA by avoiding traffic and police cars under the time limit. The player only gets to drive in a Porsche 959 racing against players in Ferrari F40. The players get to race with fifthteen other rivals across the track trying to prevent you from winning. During some of the courses you get to activate different controls. They include headlights for night driving and windshield wipers during rainstorms. If the player does not activate these controls when prompted.

The game also featured a cute Sonic the Hedgehog air freshener hanging on the rear mirror. It was Sonic's first appearance in a game, predating even the first title of his own series.

In the 1992 comedy Encino Man, Brendan Fraser's character Link loves to play Rad Mobile, so much so that when he takes a road test he speeds and drives wildly. Rad Mobile's cabinet, as well as the in-game car resembles a ferrari 330.

This game was an arcade hit so sequels have been formed like Rad Rally was released in 1991 it's Sega's first twin cabinet and now you can play against someone besides the computer and it was beaten by Namco's Final Lap
In 1994 a port of Rad Mobile released in Japan known as Gale Racer (ゲイルレーサー) for the Sega Saturn. It updated several things from its arcade counterpart it added Polygon cars and a FMV cinema when you start the game also it contains new soundtrack. It's one of the third Sega Saturn games to be released and it's quite faithful to its arcade counterpart. It featured a save system as well as new keychains depends what mascots you have in the game. The keychains they feature are Tails, Amy Rose, Eggman, Metal Sonic, Mighty, and Ray.
