Rachel Bess is an American artist working out of Phoenix, Arizona. Bess is known for her highly realistic, sometimes surrealistic, oil paintings. Her work has drawn comparisons to that of the Dutch Masters (a proclaimed favorite of hers), as well as to certain sub-genres of the lowbrow art movement.

Rachel's love of science and mathematics is evident in her work and, not surprisingly, she nearly went for a double major in Anthropology and Art. As it stands, however, Rachel got her BFA in Painting from the Honors College at Arizona State University in 2001.

Currently Bess strains to keep up with the increasing demand for her paintings, as well as helps to organize the Phoenix branch of Dr Sketchy's Anti-Art School, and writes/illustrates a comic book titled, "Fighting Death Through Reanimation".
