Rabigh

Rabigh (Arabic:رابغ) is an ancient town on the western coast of Saudi Arabia (Red Sea). It is in Makkah Province. It used to be named "Al-Johfa" until the early years of the 17th century. In some ancient stories the town had been completely destroyed via sea water. When it was rebuilt it was re-named as "Rabigh".

Rabigh has one governmental hospital calld "Rabigh Hospital" which has almost all clinics needed in any hospital, but it does not have the ability of big surgeries. It also has two small general private clinical centers (Alnakheel and Alamal) It also has a dental clinic called "Rabigh Dental Clinic."

Rabigh has many schools for both boys and girls at all levels (elementary, intermediate, and secondary), but it does not have post secondary school study schools. For girls, it has a new college that has only two departments: English and Computer Science. Also located in Rabigh is the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). KAUST was founded in October 2007 and will open in Fall 2009. When open, KAUST will have students, faculty, and researchers from around the world. The school has signed agreements with universities across the world, including Stanford, MIT, National University of Singapore (NUS), Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), etc.

People in rabigh are example of multicultural society where people from different area of Saudi Arabia come and connect to gother through marriage and all became relatives to all.

It has many factories (Arabian Cement Factory, Electricity Station that support Makkah & Madinah, Aramco Refinary) It has a big oil refinery.

Rabigh is now in full boom, as Saudi Aramco created a joint venture to build a new petro-chemical plant, with Sumitomo Chemical Japan. Once this 3,000 acre refinerey is completed, it will be (one of?) the world's largest petro-chemical plants in the world.

Also about 40km from Rabigh a new City is under construction under the leadership of “The custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud”. City is a multi-billion economic project revealed in 2005. The proposed city would be fairly small (168 km²), 50km in length. But it will have huge buildings and high skyscrapers that would be an important landmark in Saudi Arabia and The project cost is about 100 Billion SAR = $53.3 Billion USD. "The project is part of the kingdom's US$500-billion investment program to build six new cities that double as housing and commercial hubs for the country's young and growing population. The hope is the new centres will be home to five million people by 2020 and create one million jobs".

There is a shortage of houses in rabigh. So, if somebody want to visit rabigh he should plan for it before going there because there is no Hotels except one that is always full by Aramco visitors and experts. Apartments pricing: It is between S.R. 15,000 a year up to 35,000 depending on

However, you can easily get a good apartment with 3 rooms for a year with S.R. 25,000.
