The ancient Egyptian Ra-Sun god (hieroglyph) has an extremely sylized version: the solar disc with the Uraeus cobra encircling the perimeter. It is used with gods especially, whether on temple reliefs, or in stories with hieroglyphs. It is one of the oldest language hieroglyphs from Ancient Egypt, since Ra became the basis for Egypt's theology, and society.
[edit] Example usage: Kom Ombo
Examples of the highly stylized hieroglyphic version show gods repesented honoring Ra, or of being a sub-god being given power: from Ra. One example is from the Temple of Kom Ombo with the lion goddess Sekhmet.
