Raúl Alexander Chávez (born March 18, 1973 in Valencia, Carabobo State, Venezuela) is a Major League Baseball catcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He bats and throws right-handed.
Previously, Chávez played for the Montreal Expos (1996-1997), Seattle Mariners (1998), Houston Astros (2000, 2002-2005) and Baltimore Orioles (2006). He also played in the New York Yankees minor league system in 2007.
Chávez is known for his defense, and is considered to call a solid game.
In a ten-year career, Chávez is a .215 hitter with 4 home runs and 45 RBI in 181 games.
