Talk:Raëlian Embassy for Extraterrestrials

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Raëlian Embassy for Extraterrestrials was a good article nominee, but did not meet the good article criteria at the time. There are suggestions below for improving the article. Once these are addressed, the article can be renominated. Editors may also seek a reassessment of the decision if they believe there was a mistake.

[edit] GA nomination

After reviewing the article, I have failed it's GA nomination. The artcle does not seem beyond help, however, anyone is always welcome to renominate the article at any time in the future. However, some of issues I raise may not be entirely addressable right away, so this might be a long term project. But, some issues can be resolved right awar, so, to the article:

  • My main concern with the article is a lack of content. Although I realize that the complex is still in the planning stages, the amount of raw prose presented seems small and fairly limited in scope. If there is just an inherent lack of information on the topic, an this truly represents an amalgamation of all available knowledge, I would hesitate to nominate it to GA status. I feel as if all the sections need to be expanded.
  • Is there a timetable for this building? The main question I'm left asking after reading it is "when?"
  • Along those same lines, I hesitate to nominate it to GA status since the building isn't actually built yet. A GA article must be stable, and that is impossible to promise if it is based on a future event.
  • The article does not adequately describe the point of the embassy. As someone who is entirely uneducated in the Raelien religion, I am left to wonder what purpose it serves. Specifically, what religious purpose and significance such a building would serve. It would surprise me if its purpose is completely functional: surely it serves some sort of spiritual/religious purpose as well. The only claim in the article is that it would serve as a "landing pad that would serve as spaceport for extraterrestrial spaceships". I'd like to see that expounded upon, specifically in light of the Raelian religion and the overall design. Perhaps a "Religious significance" section would be in order.
  • Overall the article is referenced well, but the references section shouldn't be split up into columns. There's just not enough citations to warrant that.
  • The article is inconsistent in its use of "Raëlian" and "Raelian." Use one or the other.
  • A few wikilinks for some jargon terms would be nice. ie "aseptic chamber" and "Elohim" for example.
  • I don't know if it exists, but some sort of visual aid might be nice. Are there any plans/blueprints/models to include images of?
  • Who designed this embassy? When? Where? How? You give a few historical facts on its funding, but not really on its planning or realization. In fact not a single name is listed anywhere in the article. Someone has to be significant.
  • Shouldn't it be "Raëlian Embassy for Extraterrestrials?" (Capitals)
  • An "External resources" section might be in order.

As I said above, some of the issues might not even be possible to take care of, in which case I would say the article would fail any further GA nominations. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask here (preferably) or on my User Page. Drewcifer3000 11:59, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
