R Viswanathan

R. Viswanathan is an Indian diplomat since 1977. He has held various positions in Lisbon, Karachi, Port Louis, Tripoli, and New York City. He was the first Indian Consul General in Sao Paulo, Brazil from 1996 to 2000. From 2000 to 2003 he was the Indian Ambassador to Venezuela. Since September 2003 he has been in the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi, looking after the Latin America Division. [1]
He has published numerous books on the Latin American region, including two editions of Business with Latin America (2003, 2005),[2] Business with Andean Community (2001),[2] and A Market Study of Mercosur (1997).[1]
He regularly writes articles for a number of publications, including Business Line, The Hindu, Financial Express, and World Affairs Journal. His most recent article was on the use of biofuel in Brazil.[3]
