The R60 follows more or less the same route the Breede river flows from the Rawsonville mountains to the Indian ocean at Witsand. The scenery varies from semi Karoo landscapes to beautiful vine farms and hilly terrain of wheat fields. You will spot cactus gardens to lush fruit growing areas, with plenty tempting fruit stalls beconing you to stop and brouse. The people are the salt of the earth, and you will have to go a long way to find more friendly and welcoming hosts. For a good laugh, listen to the local farm hands and coloured population on the pavements as they speak to each other! Usually a traditional and unique Afrikaans that has grown from their own culture over a few hundred years. They simply have a way to make ordinary conversation sound hilarious and entertaining! Thanks to them, many South African jokes are here to stay!
