R.C. Soles, Jr. (born 17 December 1934) is a Democratic member of the North Carolina Senate, representing the 8th district since 1977. His district includes Brunswick, Columbus and Pender counties.
An attorney from Tabor City, Soles holds the position of Permanent Democratic Caucus Chair. Before his election to the Senate in 1976, Soles was a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives from 1969 through 1976. Soles is thought to be the longest-serving member in the history of the North Carolina legislature.[1]
Soles is an alumnus of Wake Forest University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Law School. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve.
