A user behind this IP address has been causing a minor edit war at R160B by continually adding NYCS A service to the page and it continues to be removed due to a lack of source. Should we semi-protect this page or warn the user? Herenthere (Talk) 16:28, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Need to delete material
The car deployment section of this article is based on anonymous chatboard posting which is not appropriate for an encyclopedia. Further, the events described are trivia which are of interest only to employees who manage train yards and, even if verified, are not presented in any way that would be useful or relevant to readers of an encyclopedia. There are no prospects that this type of info will ever be timely or reliable. I intend to delete that only.

I agree. I think a sentence or two about the 30-day revenue testing can be sourced from newspaper articles and is relevant, but the rest should go. --NE2 17:30, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Running on the L
I'm not sure when it started, possibly over the weekend, but these are now running on the L as well. Freshyill 19:13, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
The R160B's are linked in 5 car sets, so can't be running on the L because it uses 8 car trains. The R160As are linked in 4 and 5 car sets. Those are the ones you saw. Acps110 16:12, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] R160B Specifications
Some of the specifications on the table and underneath the picture of the R160B picture are not the same. For example, the table says that the weight of the R160 is 73,000 pounds, while the mini-table under the picture says that it weights 85,200 pounds when empty. Maybe someone should look into that?
Also, nothing wrong with the picture, but should we get one of the R160B on the N? This way it might not mislead a few people who might think the R160B runs on the A line.
Another thing - about the new car numbers - is there any proof that the new car numbers are going to be the ones currently posted? (not the 8713-8972. the other ones.) I can't find them on www.nycsubway.org.
And finally - I love the new layout of the page, as in the mini table underneath the subway car picture and it mentioning what subway car it is. IS it possible to format the other subway car pages like that?
EDIT - I have taken out the part where it said there were 400 additional R160As from Alstom, part of the option order. This is not true - the 400 R160As are part of the base order. Just a few suggestions. Krisricky627 22:23, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Running on the A
I've heard that the R160s cannot run on the A because of voltage and clearance problems out in the Rockaways. I won't edit this because I have no evidence to back this up, but I was just getting this out there.Krisricky627 (talk) 00:29, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Gearbox defects, delivery completely halted
According to this article, we won't be seeing new ones in service until at least 2009, if not longer. 71.249.255.91 (talk) 13:55, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
A fix has been found. Two Siemens R160Bs are running with the proposed fix to see if it is working well. After a certain alloted period of time the fix will be used on the rest of the Siemens R160Bs and they will make a comeback. As was said before the problem is very minor.Krisricky627 (talk) 20:36, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
