Rúnar Kristinsson (born September 5, 1969 in Reykjavík) is a former Icelandic footballer who played for Lokeren, Lillestrøm SK and KR Reykjavík. He now works for KR as director of football.

He started his career in the small club Leiknir before moving on to KR Reykjavík, Icelands largest club. His performances attracted foreign clubs, and soon he was transferred to Örgryte IS in Sweden. Halfway in the 1997 season, he moved across the border to Lillestrøm SK of Norway. Kristinsson was a success there, thus in 2000, he moved to K.S.C. Lokeren in Belgium were he was very successful.
In May 2007 he moved back to his former club KR Reykjavík in Iceland to finish his career.

Kristinsson has been capped a record 106 times for Iceland, scoring 3 goals in the process[1]. He was captain of the team in 11 matches, but retired from international duties in 2004.
