Quran Pettyjohn (born February 10, 1984), better known as Q is a new upcoming star from the East Coast.

[edit] Early Life

Born to a Guyana mother, Quran/Q grew up in the Centerville nieghborhood of Camden, New Jersey. He started rapping at the age of 13 playing around with friends, but wasn't serious about it. When Quran/Q was just in middle school he started making his own clothes called "Mature". Living in Florida in his late teenage years, Q went to school for screenprinting and graphic arts. At this time Q was merge with a music company called Evolution Records owned by a fellow schoolmate. Quran started rapping again playing around with friends, but was always told that he should start recording.

Q started out rapping with friend Anthony Hines a.k.a Rico Suave. The two called themselves the dreamteam recording there own music on a laptop with a headphone microphone combo over mainstream beats. There first single was called "Ballers" using the Fabolous beat "Now Ride". Q and Rico's popularity grew over time. Q started talking with semi-professional DJ's and Producers from all over such as: T-Mac of Lost Child Ent and DSF., DJ Whitey of the Ruff Ryders, and Fate Eastwood producer of "Grey Goose" performed by All-star, Young Jeezy, & Yo Gotti. The knowledge and he recieved only gave him a more business like mind frame. Q and Rico was always known for there style of fashion and there slick raps. So Q decided to start the record label Beachcity Entertainment with the motto "Spit fire and Look fly!". Q started his own crew of rappers from all over the world called Da Flyboys. Da Flyboys consist of Q (camden, NJ), Rico (Long Beach , CA), City (Clarksville, TN), Casino (Queens, NY), and Lil Dun (Bronx, NY).


Q! True Hood Stories (2008)

Q is schedule to release his first solo album in the spring of 2008. The album is an overview of the life of Quran/Q. The album has singles like "Patron" ft. Rico & City, "Unborn Son", and "Welcome to New Jersey". The album contains skits between each song narrating the album as his life.


Beachcity Presents.... Da Flyboys! (2008)

Rumor has it that beachcity is releasing a compilation album in the summer.


Featured Songs

Q has been featured on several songs. He has song's with fellow artists City on "For You" and "Thinking I Ain't Hot" where he states "Im the comps exec officer or CEO of Beachcity Entertainment and Flyboys Clothes". Q also feature's with new and upcoming group recently signed SBC (Southside Ballers Click) on "SBC Anthem".

Quran/Q joined the U.S. Army at the age of 19 after serving probation for six months. Q was deployed to Iraq late 2005 for one year where he grew closer with service member Anthony Hines a.k.a Rico Suave. Iraq was where the two decided to try rapping working with T-mac (Lost Child Ent.). When they returned from Iraq winter of 2006, Q and Rico still had the urge to make music. In 2007 while at a party, Rico heard this teenage kid freestyling and brought him to Q's attention. Rico told the kid to spit for Q who was instantly amazed. They decided to try him out on a song they was working called "Patron". Q instantly gave him role in Beachcity's movement and Da Flyboys. Q later moved back to FL in October 2007, where he is working on his solo album. Q has a younger there cousin who is known for his promotions and popularity named Nelson Tubens a.k.a Lil Dun was just released from prison for selling drugs. Q instantly took him back under his wing and the rest is History.

Q has always had a mind for fashion. In 2007 he trademarked his own clothing line Flyboys Clothing. He wanted to create a line of clothes thats fashionable and casual at the same time. Q later would later start Flygirl Clothing in 2008. Q could not stop there, starting a custom hand painted t-shirt line for local people in the hood called Fly -Az-Uz Tee's.
