Talk:Quizzing in India
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hi, could people familiar with quizzing from cities other than Pune update the relevant sections? Also some info on various other types and classifications of Indian Quizzing would help. Thanks Kunal 09:09, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Quiz as gerund
Never heard the term 'Quizzing' used, except perhaps informally. Is this common usage in India? I'm especially confused as to the concept of "British Quizzing". Morwen - Talk 08:23, 19 October 2005 (UTC)
The word "quizzing" is commonly used among Indian Quizzers. I had no idea it was unique to us. Kunal 15:08, 19 October 2005 (UTC)
The word quizzing is an inflection of the verb quiz (Source-Merriam Webster website) Sbohra 08:42, 20 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] QuizTime
I see that an anon editor has added the name of the winning team in 1986.
In 1988, RA Podar was represented by Rushi Anandan and someone else. St Thomas had Ranjan Sreedharan and Anil Kumar. DAV Chandigarh was fourth. I don't remember the name of the East Zone team. Does anyone remember the finalists from other years ?
Btw, isn't it QuizTime (as a single word) ? That is how I seem to remember it. Tintin 20:57, 16 November 2005 (UTC)
Hi, I've reverted the edit in which the name of the winning team (and assorted other biographical details) were added. I don't think we need to add too much detail about individual quizzes here, perhaps seperate articles can be created. --Kunal 15:15, 17 November 2005 (UTC)
- Creating a new article would be a good idea, except that I don't know anything more than what I have already written under QT. Mastermind and KBC India are even better candidates for individual articles. Tintin 15:33, 17 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Basu Bhattacharya
Why is there no mention of him ? Could somebody add this please ? What was that programme called ... alpha something or something alpha - Thenothing 09:39, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
The quiz ws called Alpha Plus; it was for school kids
[edit] Changes made for Kolkata
I have changed the entry for Kolkata a little and have tried to make it a little more informative. Hope it serves the purpose. ~~Sayan
I have updated the Kolkata section considerably. Since I am not in Cal anymore I do not have uptodate information but this is from what I keep hearing from my quiz friends. In case someone has any dispute do leave a note here when you make a change. I did all my quizzing in Cal till 2003 and know almost all the top quizzards very well. I sat with quite a few of the quizzing legends and even won a open quiz once. - sc

[edit] Mastermind
The name of third winner of Mastermind India appears in the article as Priyamvada Koushik. On TV, she was named as K.E.Priyamvada. So I am changing it to that. Tintin (talk) 06:02, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Quiznet

[edit] Some commercial-ish content modified
Quite a few people playing editing games, adding / removing various QM's names. Cleaned up the wording a bit. srs 12:41, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Notability?
Do we have any notability guidelines for the web quizzes? or can I add WP:PINQ as well? ;-) --Gurubrahma 09:07, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Reverted edits from Gurubrahma|Gurubrahma that inadvertently restored commercial content
And added WP:PINQ

[edit] Derek O'Brien article and other PR self-edits by User:Andrewscolt removed
As the title says. Wikipedia policy doesn't allow these, besides we could all do without the added hype here. srs 09:11, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Odyssey quiz 2005.jpg
Image:Odyssey quiz 2005.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
