Would someone be willing to add the following timeline of the scandal at Mizzou?

Spring 1999 ¡ APRIL 7: Quin Snyder is introduced as Missourifs 15th basketball coach, replacing the legendary Norm Stewart, who retired after 32 seasons.

1999-2000 season ¡ NOV. 12: Loses to Wisconsin 66-55 in the NABC Classic in Syracuse, N.Y., in his first game as coach. ¡ WINTER: Snyder begins recruiting point guard Ricky Clemons from the College of Southern Idaho. ¡ JAN. 22, 2000: In his first game against Kansas, Snyderfs Tigers beats the No. 7 Jayhawks 81-59 at the Hearnes Center.

2000-2001 season ¡ JAN. 13, 2001: Tigers win 112-109 four-overtime thriller against No. 18 Iowa State in Columbia. ¡ MARCH 15: Tigers win their first NCAA Tournament game in six years when Clarence Gilbert hits a last-second jumper against Georgia.

2001-02 season ¡ NOV. 21: Missouri beats Iowa in a 78-77 thriller at Kemper Arena in the Guardians Classic final. The win is part of a nine-game winning streak. ¡ MARCH 23, 2002: Despite being a 12th seed in the West Regional, Missouri advances to the Elite Eight and falls to Oklahoma 81-75. Itfs the farthest the Tigers will advance in the NCAA Tournament under Snyder.

2002-03 season ¡ AUGUST: Clemons, after receiving 24 credit hours in just two months the previous summer, enrolls at Missouri. ¡ JAN. 17, 2003: Clemons is arrested after his girlfriend, Jessica Bunge, files a criminal complaint alleging he had grabbed her in a chokehold the previous night, refusing to let her leave her apartment for more than an hour. Snyder draws fire after suspending Clemons for only one game. ¡ MARCH 22: In their last NCAA Tournament game under Snyder, the Tigers fall to Marquette 101-92 in the second round.

Spring-summer 2003 ¡ APRIL 21: Clemons pleads guilty to two reduced charges, both misdemeanors: third-degree domestic assault and false imprisonment. Clemons signs an agreement with Snyder and athletic director Mike Alden to adhere to certain rules. Clemons is suspended from the team for the 2003-04 season, but remains on scholarship. He is later sentenced to serve 60 days at a halfway house. ¡ JULY 4: Clemons, in a party at the house of MU systems president Elson Floyd, is involved in an accident on an all-terrain vehicle and is hospitalized for fractured ribs, a punctured lung and lacerations to his face. The accident happens after Clemons was due to return to his halfway house. Clemons is ordered to jail after leaving the hospital, and his scholarship is later revoked. ¡ AUG. 11: Bunge, who transferred to a college near Chicago, meets with NCAA investigators. Bunge also tells The Star that Clemons received illegal benefits from Missouri, including cash, clothing and excessive academic help. Snyder denies the accusations.

2003-04 season ¡ DEC. 10: Hours of recorded jailhouse telephone conversations between Clemons and the wives of Floyd and associate athletic director Ed Stewart are released. The tapes, more embarrassing than indicting, suggest rifts among university officials. ¡ DEC. 30: Missouri, ranked 22nd, is stunned by Belmont 71-67 at the Hearnes Center. The Tigers lose to Iowa in their next game and fall out of the rankings for good.

2004-05 season ¡ NOV. 3: Missouri is placed on three yearsf probation. The NCAA clears Missouri of payments to Clemons but imposes numerous sanctions, including loss of scholarships and a freeze on off-campus recruiting. ¡ NOV. 19: On the same night new arena namesake Paige Laurie is exposed as an academic fraud on national TV, Missouri falls at home to Davidson 84-81.

2005-06 season ¡ NOV. 14: Sam Houston State shocks Tigers 80-77 at Mizzou Arena. ¡ DEC. 21: Illinois routs Missouri 82-50 in Snyderfs final Bragginf Rights game. Snyder never beat the Illini. ¡ FEB. 10: One day after saying he wouldnft quit, Snyder is out as Missourifs coach.

  • While this may be a funny post on Phog.net, I don't think this is a fair depiction of Quin Snyder at all. (ESkog)(Talk) 03:37, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
