Talk:Quicken Loans
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I hope this page isn't deleted. I merely wanted to create a page for Quicken Loans, a major employer and business in the Detroit, MI area. I used a few other pages as examples and I thought the content was neutral and objective and not promotional. The sites I considered when creating this page were:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shell_Oil http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ING_Group http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Countrywide_Financial_Corp.
Thank you for your consideration. This is my first page, and I intend to do several pages to promote Detroit area stuff. Please let me know what to change in order to avoid deletion. I added a company box following the examples of Shell Oil and ING group listed above.
- If you wish to contest the article's deletion, remove the {{prod}} tag. However, a consensus may later be formed on WP:AFD to delete it anyway. Stifle (talk) 15:25, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
This page is not the place for lawsuit information and advertisements from lawyers.
There was NO mention of the lawyers and it was properly cited.
This page is NOT the PR department for Quicken Loans. You can not deny the facts. The fact is that Quicken IS being sued. This is properly cited by a reputable source. The is no judgement being placed here, just the facts.
I have nothing do with with Quicken Loans PR department. I personally don't care whether or not Quicken Loans is being sued. I do care that this information is not encyclopedia-worthy. Have you ever seen a lawsuit, unless it was ground breaking and made a substantial change to corporate law, listed in an encyclopedia. If all lawsuits were listed here, General Motors page would be nothing but lawsuits.
Good point, except that when GM gets sued it doesn't make the front page of the paper of record where the company operates.
Also, this lawsuit MAY change the way that every financial services company does business. Quicken MAY be the first financial services company to actually have the cajones to go to court instead of settling, if after all appeals have been exhausted (it will be appealed to the Supreme Court no matter who wins) it could have a devastating effect on the way that companies operate, from the banking and mortgage industry to Wall Street.
I have no ill will against the man or your company, I would quote the Wall Street journal item on the case but it is an opinion piece therefore against Wikipedia standards.
12th largest? Cite your data or else leave it out.
Quicken Loans has 3,600 employees. Cal their HR dept to confirm if you want to contest this —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.165.188.130 (talk) 16:20, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
Dudes, whatcha got against basketball? What was wrong with my link to the Q Arena? Mark Cuban, Dan Gilbert, this is all so cool! I love it when the dude down the street makes it big. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.143.185.97 (talk) 15:39, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Okay, I don't get it. Mr. Nobody makes it big and buys a basketball team, and you all are here arguing about how many people he employs. Why can't I just insert a link to the Q Arena without it being taken down?? No one has given a reason, and obviously I've stumbled into some huge doo-doo. Will you all just cut it out?? Mark Cuban is on Dancing with the Stars... who knows, will Dan Gilbert be next?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bballfan864 (talk • contribs) 19:04, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
The information on this site is not correct. I am a leader within the company and we have nearly 5,000 employees as of October 2007. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.215.5.254 (talk) 02:19, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
No sir, Quicken employment is well below 3,000. You must be counting all of Mr. Gilbert's businesses. I am also a leader within the company, I am just not hiding the fact that employment is down so that tax dollars can be freed up from the state of Michigan. You, my friend, must work in the PR department. Wikipedia is NOT to be used for PR purposes.Rockfinancial 03:20, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Why is there a link on this page to Rip Off Report, one of the most controversial sites on the internet? This is ridiculous and I don't understand why Wikipeida monitors allow this page to be a bulletin of people who hate this company? I said this when I created this page and I'll say it again, I like Quicken Loans because they have contributed a lot to the Detroit area and Detroit supporters like myself truly hope that Quicken Loans moves its headquarters to downtown Detroit, a very econonically depressed downtown. I don't want this page to be pro-Quicken Loans, but I also don't understand why Wikipedia monitors are allowing these unsubstantiated additions to this page, such as employement levels and links to Rip Off Report. Can someone please return this page to a neutral stance? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Clayc313 (talk • contribs) 01:20, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
Hey, bickering dudes... have you ever heard of Wikipedia:Resolving_disputes??? Everyone has obviously gone overboard with this page. I'm adding my link back to the Q Arena because this is notable in both "mortgage" circles, but, more importantly, to the world of sponsorships and professional sports. You will not be able to avoid the encyclopedic entries of what corporations are linked with professional sports teams. Get used to it. I suggest that these two IP addresses get together, call Quicken Loans's main phone line and just ask how many employees they have. Then be done with it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bballfan864 (talk • contribs) 14:45, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
I did just that. I contacted Quicken Loans HR and was transferred to a Mike Dunklee. He told me Quicken Loans currently has 4,080 employees. So please stop spamming this site with false information. It's obvious the people involved in some lawsuit are using this page to spread bad information. What's next? Are they going to defame other Detroit based companies? Is this what Wikipedia is all about? I can't believe Wikipedia monitors have allowed this page to be used as a political tool by those upset with Quicken Loans. I thought Wikipedia was about truth and fact. This page has become a tool of lawyers interested in promoting bad will and a lawsuit. This is shameful. In fact, this page should be removed. I had no idea when I created this page that it would turn into a tug of war between people who hate Quicken Loans and what seems to be employees of the company undoing the hateful additons. Detroit needs Quicken Loans. I wish this would stop.
I have removed everything from this page except basic company info. I hope Wikipedia monitors will not allow any non-impartial information for either employees or those wishing to harm this companies reputation. This page needs to be be protected, as it is being used as a tool for both sides. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Clayc313 (talk • contribs) 11:26, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
Clayc313, thanks. I am a basketball fan, obsessed with self-made people. I love the story of Mark Cuban, and I think that Dan Gilbert falls in the same category. Now, I know lots of that info is on Dan's personal page, but I think it's important to know more about the _company_ that Dan Gilbert built that enabled him to purchase the Cavs in the first place. Love the history section, and the credit stuff is... um... interesting, but way over my head. I heard Quicken Loans even won an award for "Best place to work" or something, and it would be cool to learn more about that, too. I mean, does Quicken's office have Cavs stuff all over the place?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bballfan864 (talk • contribs) 14:32, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] removed false employment numbers. Confirmed by Quicken Loans PR department
I did as suggested and contaced Quicken Loans. The official employment numbers are 4,080. Yet for some reason, a unsigned editor is continually allowed to change the number. If he/she has information to back their claim that that are only 2,500 employees. Please present it. Quicken Loans HR told me they have 4,080. If someone has information to dispute this, please do so. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Clayc313 (talk • contribs) 14:57, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
FYI, I've flagged a statement for clarification, but put the note on the article itself, because not all contributors have been keeping up with notes on this page. The article used to quote employment levels says nothing about "dropping below 3,000," and the article states they stopped hiring as of August 2007, not June. The employment number should still stand, at "just under 4,100," as stated in the article.
Or, if someone else could provide a different source... Otherwise, what's the big deal? Just leave the employment numbers out. It's not the most notable thing about the company. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.143.185.97 (talk) 16:46, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
Lined up statements on this page with statements in the article. I'm giving this a week, then I'll delete it every chance I get. Sillygirlinkudzu 16:56, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
Hey! I was even wrong about stating when they stopped hiring! Bwahaha! Well, I've taken that out, too, and everyone seems to be happy. If so, it's onward and upward. Thanks for your help, user:Someguy1221! Sillygirlinkudzu 20:07, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Rockfinancial is back
Okey dokey. So "Rockfinancial" created himself a hate board, but no one is signing along with him. So, I flagged the "Anti-Quicken Blog" on the article page with this: "Note: Any site admin: This site has no posts and the board has only one member. Is this worthy of inclusion?" Just because someone creates a discussion board doesn't mean it has anything useful to add to the conversation. I'll leave it up for a bit, but I really think it should come down until it's actually relevant to Quicken Loans. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sillygirlinkudzu (talk • contribs) 01:00, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
Update: Welp, that's that! thanks, Moar Britney!User:Sillygirlinkudzu —Preceding comment was added at 01:02, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
I don't know if you are retarded or not, I work for Quicken at the headquarters. Every day I drive to Livonia and not Detroit. Gilbert has an OPTION to get properties (and $200 MM) in 2 years! Nobody is moving their desk for another 4 or 5 years. Rockfinancial (talk) 04:48, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
Well, thank you, Rockfinancial, for fixing this silliness about where the building is located. Based on all records, they are currently located at 20555 Victor Parkway, Livonia, Michigan.
We're also having issues with when Quicken Loans did and did not hire. The article cited clearly states that they did not hire in September and October. Since the article is dated then, there is no information on November, and December was a speculation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sillygirlinkudzu (talk • contribs) 21:40, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
Corrected hiring information based on the article cited. I'm still not sure why a lawsuit that is in the courts and isn't groundbreaking or setting legal precedence is allowed to stay on this page (can anyone imagine what Wikipedia would look like if every lawsuit against every company, government, person, etc. was allowed to be listed?), but I will let it stay if the Wikipedia monitors feel it's appropriate.Clayc313 (talk) 20:51, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
- The lawsuit has been noted by Detroit News, so it meets the threshold for inclusion. In fact, it's relevence has been demonstrated just as much as every other section of the article has. Most lawsuits fail to meet this threshold, but you'll notice that for the more prolific targets of lawsuits and critisisms, we have entire articles on it (see Criticism of Microsoft for example).
