Quiz night

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A quiz night is a popular Australian form of entertainment usually involving 6 - 8 contestants on a table answering a series of quizzes. The winning table often takes home a series of donated prizes.

Quiz nights are primarily for raising funds for sporting or social groups and charity. A typical quiz night will have 8 rounds of 10 questions. Questions may vary from music themes to history and popular culture. Web based providors of quiz questions are becoming increasingly popular eg.[1], as are specialised trivia companies such as The Quizzer of Oz ([2]). Other minor prizes and raffles may be offered during the evening.

The biggest quiz night in Australia is Music for the Masses, held in Hobart, Tasmania.

In the United Kingdom, quiz nights are often held in pubs.
