From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Quiet Achiever was the world's first solar-powered car. It was developed by Hans Thostrup in 1982 and sponsored by BP.
Thostrup, along with Larry Perkins, drove the car from Perth, Australia to Sydney. The car traveled the 4052 km distance in 20 days, maintaining an average speed 23 km/h. The success of Quiet Achiever led Thostrup to establish the annual World Solar Challenge race in Australia in 1987.
