QuickTime Alternative is a codec package for Microsoft Windows created for playing QuickTime files (.MOV). Normally, Apple Inc.'s official QuickTime software is required to play back QuickTime .MOV video files.
QuickTime Alternative uses codecs taken from QuickTime 7.[1] As such, many question its legitimacy as the codec package is not a licensed Apple product[citation needed].
Also included are the latest versions of Media Player Classic and the QuickTime web browser plugin, which supports Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Mozilla and Netscape.
