Quinault Lake Spruce

  • Description: Picea sitchensis
    English: The third largest Sitka spruce in the world with a wood volume of 298 cubic meters (10,540 cu. ft.). It is 58.2 m (191 ft) high with a diameter of 5.39 m (17.7 ft.) at 1.37 m (4.5 ft.) above the ground. (Van Pelt, Robert, 2001, Forest Giants of the Pacific Coast, University of Washington Press.)
  • Viewpoint location: It is located near the eastern tip of Quinault Lake north of Aberdeen, Washington, about 39 km (24 miles) from the Pacific Ocean and is just outside the southwest corner of Olympic National Park, Washington, USA.
