Phoenix, AZ September 28, 2006— KPDF, Channel 41 (Cox Channel 58, Cable America Channel 45 and Qwest Channel 25) announced that it will begin broadcasting a local Spanish-language early evening newscast beginning January 1, 2007. KPDF is an affiliate of Azteca America, the fastest-growing Hispanic television network in the United States.

Each weeknight the newscast will feature international, national and local news, local sports and weather for Phoenix and selected Mexican cities.

KPDF is owned and operated by Una Vez Mas, LP, the nation’s largest group owner of Azteca America television stations.

Eduardo Quezada, Vice President for News and Public Affairs for Una Vez Mas will guide the local newscast as well as offer local commentaries several times a month. Quezada, an award-winning broadcast journalist and a 30-year veteran of Spanish-language television news, has served as the news anchor for both Univision and Telemundo in Los Angeles, California. “Our local newscast will mirror the demographic appeal of the Azteca America audience” said Quezada.

Nonberg, Una Vez Mas’ President and Chief Operating Officer. Eduardo Quezada Born in Cananea, Sonora Mexico. Started his broadcasting career at XEPB-FM Radio in Hermosillo, Sonora. Hired by Raul Azcarraga at XEWH-TV Channel 6 in 1965. Quezada Moved to USA in 1968, worked as Bellboy and other professions and became a Rock and roll drummer for Main St band until 1975. Hired by Danny Villanueva at KMEX-TV Channel 34 in Hollywood, California where he worked for 28 consecutive years as a reporter and News Anchor. Hired by KVEA-TV Telemundo 52 and worked at NBC Studios in Burbank until 2006.

Award winning broadcast journalist, Eduardo Quezada served as the news anchor for “Noticias de Telemundo 52”, the daily 6:00pm and 11:00pm news editions broadcast from the NBC/TELEMUNDO studios in Burbank, CA until April 2006. Mr. Quezada joined Telemundo in May, 2003. With his extensive experience and background, Mr. Quezada has produced many award winning news specials and investigative reports. Before joining Telemundo LA, Eduardo Quezada served as news anchor for KMEX-TV, Channel 34. For over 30 years, the Hispanic community has relied on Quezada to give them up-to-the-minute coverage of news events in Southern California and from around the world. Quezada began his career as a radio announcer for XEPB-FM in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. At the age of 20, he became the youngest host of a weekly television program introducing local talent of modern music at XEWH-TV, Channel 6. In addition, Quezada also served as News Director and talk show host for KAPI-Radio in Pueblo, Colorado. Quezada has served as special news correspondent for pivotal international events such as former President Ronald Reagan’s meeting with Mexico’s President Miguel de la Madrid in La Paz, Baja California, Mexico. He has also interviewed high-profile personalities including Nobel Prize writer Octavio Paz and United Farm Workers’ of America leader, the late Cesar Chavez. A recipient of several TV awards and recognitions throughout his journalistic career, Quezada has been recognized by the Radio and Television News Association of Southern California for his special investigative series, “Mercado Macabro”, a series which explored the proliferation of a vital organ black market in both the U.S. and Latin America. In 1999, Quezada won an Emmy for a regularly scheduled news 0-35 min format by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He was also honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by RTNA in 1996 for 20 years of broadcast excellence. Most recently, Mr. Quezada was honored by the American Immigrants and Law Foundation, which recognizes outstanding immigrants whose contributions have greatly enriched our nation. A strong advocate of higher education, Mr. Quezada participates in various community and public school events such as “Dia de Los Profesionals” where he motivates young Latino students to attend and complete their college education. Since 1997, Quezada has been a major supporter of the National Hispanic Scholarship Fund which donates millions of dollars to aspiring journalism college students.
