Not sure how to make this more encyclopedic. Unlike some by-elections, this one didn't change the balance of power and thus topple a government. The gains were temporary (hence commenting about the return to Labor at the 2006 election). I can't see anything NPV-wise, anythin much to add nor anything substantial missing.
