Quevedo, Ecuador

Quevedo is a city in the coastal region of Ecuador. Located in Los Rios province. Its population is cited around 300,000. Located at 237 km SW of Quito (The Ecuadorian Capital), or, 183 km NE of Guayaquil (Ecuador's principal port). Quevedo is one of the fastest growing cities in Ecuador; mainly known for its agricultural tradition, a strong producer of banana, cacao, and coffee bean; although in recent years nonagricultural businesses have experienced significant progress.
Education
UTEQ, Universidad Tecnica Estatal de Quevedo, is famously known in Ecuador for its excelent program in Agricultural sciences.
Sports
Club Deportivo Quevedo is the local football team which has played many seasons in the Ecuadorian top division.
Culture
Mostly populated by the Mestizo ethnic group; Quevedo is also known for its prominent Chinese immigrant population and has even been called the "Chinatown of Ecuador".
