[edit] Background

The song was written by Georges Lunghini, Elsa's father, who also wrote all the songs from her album. The music was composed by Pierre Grosz and V.M. Bouvot.

In the second couplet, Elsa mentions the actress Ava Gardner of whom she was fascinated. With "a lot of accuracy and sensibility", the song deals with "the critical passage from childhood to adolescence", torn between the desire to become an adult and the fear of the unknown. The relationships with the parents and the friends are also evoked.[1]

[edit] Chart performances

In France, the single was as well successful as Elsa's previous single, "T'en va pas", but didn't managed to top the chart (Sabrina Salerno's "Boys (Summertime Love)" was #1 then). It debuted at the bottom of the French Single Chart (#46) on December 19, 1987, but reached the top ten five weeks later, in which it stayed for 11 weeks, peaking at #2 on February 27, 1988. It left the chart after its 24th week of attendance.[2]

In 1988, the single was certified Gold disc by the SNEP, the French certificator, for more than 500,000 sales.[3]
