[edit] Houses

There are four houses, which have regular inter-house competitions. These include the house cross-country, drama and music competitions. There is even a debating and general knowledge competition. The best day for house competitions is Sports Day, where, when the results are announced, everyone is on the edge of their seats. There are also regular 'house meetings' where senior girls fulfill their inter-house responsibilities.

The four houses, named after local abbeys are Byland (blue), Fountains (yellow), Jervaulx (green) and Rievaulx(red). Traditionally, sisters are in the same house. Many teachers are also assigned to houses and assist the senior girls by mentoring.

The school is well known throughout North Yorkshire for its Music especially its Chapel Choir who have released two CDs of music. The School is a member of the Woodard Corporation
