Queen Anne's Bounty
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Queen Anne's Bounty was a fund established in 1704 for the augmentation of the incomes of the poorer clergy, the amount of which for distribution in 1890 was £176,896; it was the revenue from a tax (Annates) on the Church prior to the Reformation, and which after that was appropriated by the Crown. Queen Anne's Bounty was merged with the Ecclesiastical Commissioners on April 2, 1947 by the Church Commissioners Measure 1947[1] to form the Church Commissioners.
