Queen's Rangers Elementary School is a rural[1] elementary school in the community of Copetown, Ontario, Canada.
Queens Rangers School was established in 1958 and named after the 250-year-old Queen’s York Rangers militia unit. The school maintains their connection to the QYR with members visits to the school and students writing to QYR soldiers serving in Afghanistan.[2]
The school serves a wide rural area from Dundas, Ontario to the Brant County line and almost all students are bussed to and from school.[2] In 2001, the school building, with a floor area of 1841 m2, was rated with a capacity of 253.5 people. [3] In 2007, the school's enrolment was 190[2] with a staff of 22[4].
Queen's Rangers follows a balanced day schedule, consisting of three teaching blocks of 100 minutes and two nutrition breaks of 45 minutes.[2] The school holds an annual Multiple Intelligences Day,[2] which has included in the past hands-on workshops from McMaster University's "Let's Talk Science" programme.[5] Queen's Rangers has also qualified as a "Green School" by the SEEDS Foundation's environmental stewardship program for elementary students by completing at least 100 environmental projects.[6]
