Don't worry too much about being perfect. Very few of us are! Just in case you are not perfect, click here to see how you can avoid making common mistakes.
If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}}
on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.
Wikipedians try to follow a strict policy of never biting new users. If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator. One last bit of advice: please sign any dicussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). The software will automatically convert this into your signature which can be altered in the "Preferences" tab at the top of the screen. I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself and be BOLD!

[edit] Useful Wikipedia pages to review
Secondly here are some additional resources you may find helpful:
[edit] ... when editing potential controversial articles
My father, a first generation Scottish American, traveled frequently to Scotland and had many friends there. He observed that the Massacre of Glencoe was still a point of contention for many Scots, even after several centuries.
I see you've taken to editing this article and already encountered a bit of minor, fairly civilized controversy. Here are some links you may want to look at if you're going to edit more controversial articles:
- Help:Edit summary -- always use edit summaries
- Wikipedia:Citing sources -- always do this on controversial articles (either with footnotes or comments on the article page)
- Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines
- Wikipedia:Sign your posts on talk pages
- Wikipedia:Etiquette
- Wikipedia:Harassment -- extreme cases -- you shouldn't see this
- Wikipedia:Civility
- Wikipedia:Assume good faith -- really important
- Wikipedia:No personal attacks
- Wikipedia:Three-revert rule -- break this rule and get banned from editing. It's actually not that hard to do if you're not thinking
- Wikipedia:No original research
- Wikipedia:Neutral point of view -- the ultimate goal when editing controversial articles
- Wikipedia:Verifiability
Having said all this, don't shy away from editing controversial articles. I'm including these links to be helpful -- it's not intended to be some sort of "hint" about your editing pattern to date. --A. B. 16:42, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] ...when creating new articles
Your new Baron of Scales article has been tagged as needing "wikification" (formatting to Wikipedia norms). Don't sweat this too much -- "content is king" on Wikipedia. We need substantive content more than formatting, although understanding basic formatting is important. These three links will help you with this. --A. B. 16:42, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thank you
Finally, and most importantly, thank you for your edits to date, especially your new Baron of Scales article. As I said above, we always need additional substantive content. --A. B. 16:42, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
