[edit] Vfd/Hangman

Thanks for your keep vote in the debate. I'm not sure if I understood your question though, what do you mean by one game at a time? As for running the game, if you are interested in running a round or two then please contact me at my talk page here. As for voting about it, we don't really do that. What happen was that Lapinmies didn't feel like doing another game of it so I kinda took responsibility for it. You are welcome to run it if you like as I stated before. Thanks for your time and vote. -Hoekenheef 22:10, 11 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Hangman

I see what you mean. Sorry about the link, I was pobably doing an allnighter or something. -Hoekenheef 14:36, 14 July 2005 (UTC)

Righto! -Hoekenheef 14:04, 15 July 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, you can do game 7. I'll give you a quick overview of what you need to do to run the game:

Set Up Edit:

  1. Clear the "Letters Used" line.
  2. Place a new image for the hint.
  3. Make the "mystery" sentence in underscores and dashes.
  4. Clear the guesses section.
  5. Under Game 7 type, in bold, "Game 7 has started." and then sign your username and date.
  6. Before saving these changes, in the edit summary textbox type "Game 7 has started."

During the game:

  1. Frequently check for guesses. At least once a day, if possible.
  2. When a letter is correctly guessed, fill in its spots in the sentence and place the letter(s) in the letters used line.
  3. If a letter is incorrect, place it in the "Incorrect Guesses" line and deduct one "point" from "Wrong Guesses" left.
  4. If a user breaks a rule, then immediatly erase their guess or revert their edit.
  5. After every edit you do during this period type, "Updated", in the edit summary box.

End of game:

  1. Under "Game 7" type, "Game 7 has been solved.", in blod and sign it. Hit enter once and type, "Answer: (actual answer)", in bold.
  2. In the edit summary textbox type, "Game 7 has been solved."

And that's it. If you have any questions let me know. Also since this is your first game I will ask for the answer to the game. (and yes I won't be participating in guessing.) I will also be happy to help you with rule breaking users. Good luck! -Hoekenheef 02:08, 18 July 2005 (UTC)

  • Okay I got the answer. So whenever you want to start the game go ahead. -Hoekenheef 02:26, 18 July 2005 (UTC)
  • On the name thing. Since 7 is over it doesn't matter, but next time if a name is left out then delete their guess. If a user puts the answer in the "edit summary" box then go ahead and accept it because reverting won't really do anything. Secondly, yeah, you can run 8. Go ahead and do 9 if you want to. I would like to take over on 10 for a bit though. -Hoekenheef 14:21, 20 July 2005 (UTC)

EDIT: I didn't notice that 70.249.74.166 hadn't put the answer on the page. In that case, don't accept the answer. -Hoekenheef 14:23, 20 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] hello!

Hey, I came upon your user page ealier and saw there was no picture of Quadraxis from Prime 2, so here is one! Dunno...I just felt like doing it. If you don't want it I can delete it for you. Thunderbrand 21:54, August 2, 2005 (UTC)

I was looking at the page history for the Air France Flight 358 article and saw your name and thought it was cool that someone used that name. Thunderbrand 01:47, August 3, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Blanking of Halobacterium

Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. If it is a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia! -- Francs2000 20:22, 25 September 2005 (UTC)

  • Hi there. I wasn't actually blanking it, i was deleting the redirect because the only page connecting to the riedirect was the Halobacteria page itself, which is what it redirected to anyways. Hence, a double redirect, which is a no-no. Thanks for your concern though! --Quadraxis 21:06, 25 September 2005 (UTC)
  • Then could you please list it on Wikipedia:Redirects for deletion instead? Many thanks. -- Francs2000 21:07, 25 September 2005 (UTC)
    • Oh, i figured it was too obvious of a redirect. I kind of figured that Wikipedia:Redirects for deletion was for redirects that people might have problems with, and i figured that a double redirect/recursive redirect wasnt worth the time of a RfD, but i'll put the redirect in Rfd. Thanks for the advice! --Quadraxis 21:20, 25 September 2005 (UTC)
Well whether you figured that or not, when you blanked the redirect you didn't delete it: only admins can delete pages which is why they have to be listed in some way first. That's what I left above: blanking pages doesn't delete them, it just leaves a blank page. -- Francs2000 21:23, 25 September 2005 (UTC)
      • Oooh. Ok. Well....hmm. Thanks for pointing that one out. (Perhaps i should go to bed...I'm doing things i should know better than to do!) Thanks again. --Quadraxis 21:25, 25 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Can you give me a hand?

Accounts cannot be deletd, but articles can, and if the user's only contributions were to articles that have since been deleted, they will no longer show up on his contributions page. That is the most likely reason why it looks like he has made no contribs. :) -Greg Asche (talk) 02:00, 26 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Nice username!

Hello, I was just going through some Metroid article histories, and I noticed your interesting username. It's nice to see some other MP2 lovers out there :-). (Quadraxis took me a really long time to beat for the first time.) Happy editing! Robert T | @ | C 03:16, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

Oh yeah, Quadraxis was harsh, but sooo good. So much so that i just had to make that my nickname! Happy editing to you too! --Quadraxis 15:58, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
I just beat Quadraxis earlier today. He went down a lot quicker on my second playthrough...--Claude 06:15, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Doctor Who missing episodes

Hello — a couple of weeks ago you lodged a very weak objection to this piece on its FAC page. There've been changes made since then, and I wondered if you could have a look and see whether we've managed to solve the issues you had problems with? Thanks! Angmering 11:01, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] User:CosmicCastaway

Can you tell me what your affiliation is with CosmicCastaway? Thanks. Ëvilphoenix Burn! 04:21, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

  • I'd rather not say, considering it doesn't matter that much anymore, and it's up to him/her to reveal private stuff like that. Wait...thats not exactly what i mean. What i mean is that i think i should ask that person if they are fine with me talking about them first. Of course though, it doesn't really matter much anymore in any case. Hmm...oh, and i don't think he/she will be much of a bother as of now (though i might be wrong). Does that help? Or not? --Quadraxis 02:26, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
    • What motivated you to edit their user page? That's an unusual action. Ëvilphoenix Burn! 02:28, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
      • Well, it's not really unsual :) But i know what you mean. Well, i introduced him/her to Wikipedia, and he/she asked a question of me, which i answered on their talk page. --Quadraxis 02:57, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
        • Is CosmicCastaway a sockpuppet, specifically yours? Ëvilphoenix Burn! 05:46, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
          • I was waiting for this question. Nope, not at all. He/She is just a friend of mine that i introduced to wikipedia, and who decided to do a few less than smart things (vandalism, obviously) --Quadraxis 23:26, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Hi there! I'd like to invite you to explore Wikimedia Canada, and create a list of people interested in forming a local chapter for our nation. Cult of the Dead Cow is a great group because of their overall benefit to society. MindVox wouldn't be as it is today without it... Hacktivismo wouldn't be protecting YOUR rights without it... You wouldn't have good text files without it... A better place to ask would be here. -GreenDiamond-

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Metroid420.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Metroid420.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. This is an automated message from BJBot 06:41, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] User:Quadraxis/The Game (oldish version)

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article User:Quadraxis/The Game (oldish version), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Calton | Talk 00:58, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Hi there. First off, i'll say that I didn't actually get to see what reason you gave for the deletion of this page, because it'd been deleted by the time I got your message. Basically, that page, in my understanding, falls under the category of a user subpage, not that of a general encyclopedia page. As such, it follows the criteria listed here. I don't see a reason there for my page to be deleted. Of course, if there is a reason, i'm fine having that page deleted, but If possible, i'd much prefer to be able to hold onto it, as I am keeping it with the intent of working on a new version of "The Game" eventually. I say eventually, because currently I don't have much time to edit wikipedia (also the reason I didn't see your message until after the page had been deleted). I know you don't have delete/undelete powers, but I figured it'd be best to talk to you to see if you still wish it to be deleted before I brought it up for Wikipedia:Deletion review. --Quadraxis 01:59, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
The tag reason read "Copy of deleted article -- whose deletion has been upheld at DRV more than once -- and untouched since July." "Working on it" means actually working on it -- which you hadn't done in the last seven months -- not using userspace as a permanent storage facility for articles not ready for primetime, which is why I tagged it.
It's a PROD deletion, so in theory all you have to do is ask an admin to undelete it and it's done, but whether one will given its history is another question -- but not up to me, either way. --Calton | Talk 02:25, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Stargate Atlantis -- 3x14.jpg

Hello Quadraxis, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Stargate Atlantis -- 3x14.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Quadraxis/Tao of Rodney. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 20:04, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Down Under (song)

Hi there. I'm afraid I reverted your addition to Down Under (song) - you used YouTube as a citation; unfortunately YouTube is not a reliable source. If you can find another source to validate your claim then please feel free to add your information again.-- JediLofty User ¦ Talk 08:53, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] YouTube as a source

Hi there. Thanks for your message. Who produced the clip that you linked to? If it was from a DVD, video or television broadcast then it cannot be linked from Wikipedia, as the material would be copyrighted. Have a peep at Wikipedia:External links#Linking to YouTube, Google Video, and similar sites. -- JediLofty User ¦ Talk 16:44, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Hmmm... I know YouTube is frowned upon as a source, because the videos uploaded (even when they don't breach copyright) are not verifyable. It is possible to alter the footage, overlay different soundtracks, etc. I think that using it as a source in the Down Under (song) article to prove that Great Big Sea perform the song may run into issues whereby editors ask whether it really is that band, or whether they are really playing that song (clever editing can easily make people appear to be doing/saying/singing something they aren't!) -- JediLofty User ¦ Talk 08:59, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
The trouble is, if you add it without a source, it ends up being original research. Is there no reputable website that mentions them singing the song? -- JediLofty User ¦ Talk 09:12, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Work in progress, Fictional places of Eddings, would you help

Hello Quadraxis...Would you be interested in helping with an article/list about the fictional places of the works of the Eddings that I am currently writing in my user space? I really don't know what to do with it, but if you were willing to help me with it, that would be great! If no one thinks it is worth it, I will just get rid of it. Pop on over if you want. - LA @ 06:24, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
