Indeed. The city of Quatre Bornes is built on what was once a large sugar cane plantation marked out by four boundary stones. --Anonymous
"Quatres Bornes" does not seem to mean "four corners" in French but "four boundary stones" according to my dictionary. --Edcolins 20:35, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
If I might add my two cents' worth - "bornes" in French means a boundary or marker (such as the "marker stones" above). A more apt translations of "Four Corners" into French would be "carrefour" - ie. intersection
