Quanta Computer Incorporated is a Taiwan-based manufacturer of notebook computers and other electronic hardware. It is the largest manufacturer of notebook computers in the world.[1] Its customers include Alienware, Apple Inc., Compaq, Dell Computer, Fujitsu, Gateway Computers, Gericom, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Maxdata, Sharp Corporation, Siemens AG, Sony, and Toshiba. It was founded by Barry Lam in 1988, and is still headed by him.
Quanta Computers was announced as the original design manufacturer (ODM) for the XO-1 by the One Laptop per Child project on 2005-12-13, and has taken an order for one million laptops as of 2007-02-15.[2]
It is estimated that Quanta had a 33% worldwide market share of notebook computers in 2005.
