[edit] Premise
The show centers around the adventures of Donald Duck and his nephews, Huey, Dewey, and Louie, who are portrayed as teenagers in this series. They speak in conventional voices, versus the "duck"-like voices they possessed in the earlier theatrical shorts, and they each have their own distinct personalities (also in contrast to their earlier portrayals). They also participate in typical teenage activities. Daisy Duck is a reporter for a news program called What in the World, with Donald as her cameraman. Ludwig Von Drake also appears in this series.
[edit] Production
The tone of Quack Pack is comedic and slapstick, a sharp contrast to the earlier, "more serious" DuckTales. While this show also takes place in Duckburg, in contrast to earlier series' it almost exclusively features human characters, with the Ducks as the only anthropomorphized characters to appear. Finally, Scrooge McDuck, the Money Bin, Launchpad McQuack, Gyro Gearloose, Bubba Duck, Mrs. Beakly, Webby, the Beagle Boys, Magica DeSpell, Duckworth, and GizmoDuck are completely absent from this series, and no explanation is given for their absence, although Launchpad's absense could reasonably be chalked up to the fact he leaves Duckburg for Saint Canard an unknown amount of time after DuckTales to, eventually, become Darkwing Duck's sidekick in the pilot for Darkwing Duck since we don't know how Quack Pack relates to the earlier DuckTales spin-off as far as timing is concerned. That is to say, whether they're meant to be happening at the same time or at two different times after DuckTales concluded.
The show's working title was Duck Daze, but was changed at the last minute to Quack Pack; traces of the earlier title were still reflected in the theme song, which is performed by Eddie Money.
After Quack Pack left the Disney Afternoon, it eventually resurfaced in reruns on the Disney Channel, and later on Toon Disney, but was removed from the channel's lineup, along with several other classic Disney shows, in November 2004. In March 2008, Quack Pack returned to The Disney Channel lineup airing repeats. [1]
