Qiu Qianren (裘千仞) is a character which appeared in the wuxia novels Legend of the Condor Heroes and Return of the Condor Heroes.

[edit] Legend of the Condor Heroes

In the first novel, Qiu was first introduced as the chief of the Iron Palm Sect(鐵掌幫). He possessed extremely powerful martial arts and was known as the 'Iron Palm, Water Skimmer' (鐵掌水上飄) as his qinggong was quite powerful. The Iron Palm Sect was notorious as its members committed all kinds of crimes and even collaborated with the Jin Dynasty to harm the common people of the Song Dynasty. Qiu Qianren even dealt Zhou Botong and Ying Gu's child with a blow which left the child mortally wounded but still alive. He had also dealt Huang Rong a severe blow at Iron Palm Mountain. Eventually, Huang Rong and Guo Jing travelled to meet Reverend Yideng and Huang Rong was cured of her injuries by Yideng. Towards the end of the novel, Qiu was being pursued and bullied by the 'Old Imp' Zhou Botong until he reached Huashan. There Qiu almost fell off a cliff but was saved by Yideng. Qiu Qianren then regretted his past misdoings and agreed to repent and atone for all his sins by becoming a monk under Yideng.

[edit] Return of the Condor Heroes

Qiu Qianren appeared again in the second novel, this time as a monk known as Ci'en(慈恩) under Reverend Yideng. He had given up doing evil and turned over a new leaf, but was still unable to control his temper at times. Once, he sustained a severe injury and was on the brink of death. Before his death, he went to meet Ying Gu and Zhou Botong, begging them for their forgiveness for killing their child years ago. They forgave him and he died with relief.
