Description

Diagram of British QF 13 pounder Shrapnel Round MK II, 1914.
Mk III Shell, Forged Steel, length 7.988 inches, diameter 2.99 inches. Head 2 c.r. No. 14 special narrow type driving band.
234 balls (41/lb).
Central tube is filled with perforated powder pellets to increase angle of opening of balls.
Shrapnel bursting charge is 1 1/4 oz F.G. powder.
Fitted with No. 80 T & P Fuze.
Total weight of shell filled and fuzed is 12 1/2 lb.
Charge is Cordite M.D. size 8, 1 lb 4 oz 11 drams.
Total weight of round is 16 lb 7 oz.
