Diagram showing Cartridge Mk II, 2 lb 12 oz, Naval service, for British QF 12 pounder 18 cwt naval gun.
Charge : 2 lb 12 oz 2 drams Cordite M.D., size 11, arranged in 1 central bundle and 6 outer bundles.
A perforated paper cylinder approximately 5 inches long fits above the cordite charge. At its lower end a millboard ring is fastened to it with copper wire. A felt ring fastens to the cylinder's top end.
A 10 dram R.F.G.2 Mk II igniter fits into a cordite cylinder at the base.
Mk VI concave lid is used (the diagram is incorrect in labeling lid as Mk V).
An adapter for percussion or electric firing tube is fitted.
Brass case is approximately 20.2 inches long. The adapter protrudes approximately 1/2 inch at the base.
