[edit] Christopher Lloyd (gardener)

Why do you think that the disambiguation notice, that formerly adorned the top of this page, was misplaced? Bejnar 00:50, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

From Wikipedia:disambiguation#Deciding to disambiguate:
Ask yourself: When a reader enters this term and pushes "Go", what article would they most likely be expecting to view as a result? (For example, when someone looks up Joker, would they find information on a comedian? On a card? On Batman's nemesis? On the hit song or album by The Steve Miller Band?) When there is no risk of confusion, do not disambiguate nor add a link to a disambiguation page.
When a reader enters Christopher Lloyd (or a writer creates a link to Christopher Lloyd), they may have been meaning the rapper, the screenwriter, or the gardener, rather than the actor, so there is a risk of confusion, and reason for disambiguation. When they enter or link to Christopher Lloyd (gardener), they would not have been meaning any but the gardener, so there is no such risk or reason.
Please let me know if I am mistaken, and thank you for your question. Qatter 01:29, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
It is true about readers who type in or click on Christopher Lloyd (gardener), but it is not true where there are piping links that show only Christopher Lloyd. Readers may well click on a piped Christopher Lloyd link (say in a list of screenwriting credits)wondering if the Christopher Lloyd that they are thinking about is also a screenwriter. The more the link to a name or title is likely to be piped, the more valuable the immediate cross-reference to a disambiguation page becomes. Talk more? Bejnar 15:09, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Mr. White

A tag has been placed on Mr. White requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
