Pyogenesis

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pyogenesis is the German band around Flo V. Schwarz that played all over the world from Mexico to Bulgaria as the headliner in front of 25,000 people, or shows in Hungary in front of 560,000.

Pyogenesis is generally thought to have had an intercontinental musical influence. With the release of the album “Unpop”, which is considered to be their best by many of the band’s continuing enthusiasts[citation needed], Pyogenesis made a distinct move away from their initial roots in the metal genre. Though the album resulted in the band losing some of their metal fanbase, they gained many new alternative music fans in Europe. The band has not received the same recognition in North America that they have garnered overseas.

There are definite German techno music influences in the mid-90s music of Pyogenesis, which has been held to have a distinct club presence. The band is also generally thought to have had a seminal influence on the development of the underground hard house and electronica music scene and rave culture of the late 90s[citation needed]. In this regard, it is worthwhile to note some of the more memorable lyrics from the song entitled "Love Nation Sugarhead", which include the following: "just wind it up with some E and some space bread", "who stabs himself, who stabs a needle now?", and "what if he doesn't survive?". The song first appeared as an EP, and later on their CD entitled "Unpop" (1997). Evidence of the seminal influence of this last-mentioned song by Pyogenesis on the then underground music scene is demonstrated by its inclusion on the CD that was distributed along with the April 1997 issue of CMJ New Music Monthly magazine.

The music of Pyogenesis includes atmospheric, gothic rock, death/doom metal, alternative, punk, and techno elements.
